Take me back to Hawaii, stat!! Tiffany and Johnathan and I met first, for their engagement session at the Griffith Observatory, and beach, in Los Angeles! It always works out beautifully when my couples reside in Los Angeles but are planning a destination wedding in Hawaii (my home state). We couldn’t have asked for a more lovely spring wedding day in Waikiki on Oahu, for T + J. The architecture of the Moana is just stunning, and paired with these two’s beauty (inside and out), we were able to create the perfect documentation of their special day. Scroll on to hear from the couple too!
Where did you get married and what drew you to your wedding venue?
The Moana Surfrider hotel at Honolulu, Hawaii. Hawaii is our favorite vacation spot and we wanted to share our love for the tropical destination with our friends and family. We wanted a destination wedding to make it a reason for our loved ones to make an adventure out of it.
What is one piece of advice you would provide to another couple preparing for their wedding day?
Hiring an experienced planner/coordinator. Even if they are expensive, it will make your day WORTH IT. You are already spending a lot on a wedding overall so to make sure your day goes smoothly, hiring the most important help for your day will alleviate all the stress.
What’s one thing you wouldn’t change about your day? Or one thing you would?
This is me being nit picky- but I wish I better prepared my walk down the aisle but I was too nervous and emotional to even focus on that… and to prepare a better thank you speech. But other than that, the day was perfect.
What’s one of your favorite memories from your wedding day?
This is a tough one… Honestly, the whole day was memorable. There wasn’t a specific moment. Just being able to spend time with family & friends at Hawaii was unforgettable. It’s like a vacation trip with all your loved ones in one place.
Any mindsets that you would suggest a couple take into their wedding day?
Don’t stress and enjoy your day! Let your planner/coordinator and venue staff to manage the day and allow yourself to be treated like royalty.
What would you say to someone on the fence about investing into their wedding day photography/photographer team?
I would prioritize investing in the photography. Do your research! The wedding day will pass by so fast and photographs/videos is the only way to capture one of the best moments in your life. You will want to share and reminisce on these moments for years to come and with your children. Even if the prices are high, having the best photos will be WORTH IT.
